Royal Air Force Air Cadets – Volunteer Squadron Adult Staff

RAFAC Air Cadets Cumbria & Lancashire Wing

RAFAC Air Cadets Cumbria & Lancashire Wing

The Royal Air Force Air Cadets is a nationwide Cadet force with squadrons throughout the country.  Two local squadrons 128 (Barrow in Furness) and 2223 (Ulverston) are looking for volunteers to help run the squadrons, both squadrons parade twice a week.

Since recovering from the effects of the Covid-19 lockdown, cadet numbers are rising and we need adult volunteers to help run the squadron, either as a Civilian Instructor or as a member of the Civilian committee.

Scope for Civilian Instructor

A civilian instructor works with the uniformed staff to help provide the huge range of activities that the Royal Air Force Air Cadets has to offer, both in the classroom and in practical subjects such as sports and adventure training.

No previous experience is necessary but any specialist knowledge or skills that you may have would be a great advantage. (for example, Mountain Leader, Paddle-sport or mountain biking).  All staff must be DBS cleared.

Once established as a Civilian Instructor, you have the option to apply to become a member of the uniformed staff, such as a Non-commissioned Officer (NCO) or as a Commissioned Officer, however there is no obligation to do so, and the existing staff will support you in which ever path you choose.

The Squadron meets twice a week, and staff would usually attend on both occasions, however, other arrangements may be possible to meet individual circumstances to make volunteering work for you.

Parade nights for Barrow in Furness are Monday and Thursday.  Ulverston Parade Monday and Friday.  Please see contact details below for both squadrons:
